Deborah Meltvedt
Medical Science and Foundations for Success


My name is Deborah Meltvedt and I teach Foundations for Success, Medical Science 10 and Medical Science 12.  I have been a teacher at HPHS since it opened in 2005. In past years, I have been the Work Based Learning Coordinator in which I helped students connect with experiences in health care in the “real world.”   I love teaching about all facets of health and medicine, especially behavioral and mental health.  I also am advisor to the Creative Writing Club, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), and the women’s running club. 

Scott Bruggeman
Medical US History and World History


My name is Scott Bruggeman, and this is my third year at Arthur A Benjamin Health Professions High School.  I was at Hiram Johnson High School for ten years before coming here, and I was at Rio Americano High School and Elk Grove Charter School before that.  I am excited about History/ Social Science  and hopefully you will be too after being in my classroom!

My name is Jennifer Clemens and I teach 9th Medical Science (Basic Anatomy and Physiology), Foundations for Success (articulated with Sacramento City College for college credit if grade earned is an A or B), and college-level Anatomy/Physiology (BIOL 100) and Medical Terminology (AH 110). 

Bonnie DeBiasio
Resource Specialist Program Teacher (RSP)


Hello I’m Mrs. Bonnie DeBiasio and I teach RSP support both in the GE classroom and small group instruction. and I’ve been a Resource Specialist for the past nine years. I couldn’t be more excited to be starting my second year at HPHS! I love being a part of a school that is so caring of its students and their families.

I graduated from CSU, Chico with a BA in Education and two teaching credentials which include K-6 General Education and K-12 Special Education. I have been married to my husband, Joe for the past nine years and we have two beautiful children ages two and three.

Greetings and salutations!

I am happy to be a Jaguar now! I have worked for the SCUSD for 10 years, and love serving my Health Professions community. As a Colombian native, I travel back home to visit family every year —yes, yo hablo español!  I love dancing, travel, hiking, and yoga.  I will graduate from California State University, Sacramento in May 2020 and want to teach Spanish in high school. Please contact me for our school attendance needs.

Taylor Intermill
FACES for the FUTURE Coordinator


The program is scheduled to officially launch in Fall 2016 in partnership with the FACES for the Future Coalition. The FACES program will provide a multi-year healthcare internship and leadership development program for highly resilient HPHS students. The program will support entry into healthcare professions through internships, workshops, academic support, college preparation and wellness support. Students in 11th Medical Science class will have the opportunity to apply to  be part of the program and gain placement in healthcare internships throughout the Sacramento community.

Amber Kadrie

My name is Amber Kadrie and I am one of the counselors at HPHS. I graduated from CSU, Dominguez Hills with my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology.  I have also attended CSU Sacramento for my Master’s degree in Counseling.  Not only am I a Counselor here at HPHS but I am also a Counselor at The Met Sacramento High School and West Campus.  This will be my 3rd year as a counselor within our district and I love working with students to reach their full potential! Please come by or reach out by phone or email.

Janet Love
SDC Social Worker


I graduated from California State University, Sacramento with my Bachelors of Arts in Social Work in 1992 and with my Masters of Social Work, along with my Pupil Personnel Service Credential in School Social Work in 1995. I came to Health Professions High School the Spring Semester of 2016. Prior to coming to Health Professions, I worked in SCUSD’s Child Development Department for 17 years as a school social worker.

Lisam Moua

Hello! My name is Lisam Moua and I am a College and Career Counselor beginning my 2nd year here at HPHS. Previously, I have been a school counselor in the Elk Grove USD and Grant Joint Union HSD. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Ethnic Studies from CSU Hayward (East Bay) and my Pupil Personnel Services Credential/Master of Arts in Counseling from San Jose State University.  I want to provide guidance and support for all students to be prepared and ready for their chosen path once they graduate from HPHS.

Christin O’Cuddehy
Christin O’Cuddehy US Government/Economics and Medical English 12


I teach Senior Medical English and Senior Government/Economics, and I’m thrilled to be starting another year at HPHS!

I am passionate about Health and Healthcare as a Social Justice issue, and my students can expect to address questions of equity and access on a regular basis. All of my classes have a strong focus on communication, both written and oral, and each grade level will complete at least one civic action project over the course of the year.

Dr. Iyuanna Pease


My name is Dr. Iyuanna Pease and I am honored to be the Principal of AAB HPHS. 

I have been an educator for approximately 11 years.  I earned BA in sociology from CSUS, masters in Ed counseling and recently earned my doctorate of education. My experience is diverse having worked in primarily small high school settings. However, I’ve also been an Elementary counselor, Student Support Specialist for homeless and foster youth and an administrator at various sites. 

Herson Perez
Spanish I and II and Medical Spanish and Latino Club Advisor


Hola, my name is Herson Pérez.  I have been teaching Spanish for ten years at Health Professions High School. This year I’ll be teaching levels 1, 2, and Medical Spanish. I received a Masters degree in Spanish from California State University Sacramento.  I enjoy reading and exercising. My favorite writers are Gabriel García Márquez and Mario Vargas Llosa. My favorite musical is, of course, Hamilton. My favorite food is almond butter and my favorite book is One Hundred Years of Solitude. Viva HPHS!
